& Costing Examples HuntersHeart.com targets a broad audience and supports old computers that lack the latest technologies. We focused on easy to read information that downloads quickly. Huntersheart.com is certified “family friendly” by Bobby. Disabled users, such as the blind who listen to the web, are afforded easy access. Translations into a few foreign languages target international customers. Superior organization and data management are essential to manage such a large informational site. Free Atomz text searching (accommodating misspelled words) allows users to quickly access the information they want. There's also a printable Acrobat version of the site. When Internet Explorer users bookmark huntersheart.com in their Favorites list, a custom icon reinforces branding. The videos of the dogs are very popular. They allow long distance customers too see the “product” for themselves. Another feature that people often request is our gallery design. Instead of clicking to bring up a larger photo, the user simply positions their mouse over the thumbnail and the large graphic automatically appears. Homepage (http://huntersheart.com/index.html
) We started this site by determining its navigation, structure,
colors and layout. We wrote body copy and planned graphics. The logo was
adapted from my original pencil sketch (drawn at a resolution and size
that permits conversion to large outdoor signs) and then saved for web
(4 hours). Finally, I assembled the homepage(1 ½ hours). Gallery

) First I scanned 10 photos,
then converted each to thumbnail and large web versions(2 ½ hours). I
wrote the code for JavaScript rollovers and constructed the page(2 ½ hours).

) Once the standardized site layout was established the rest of
the inside pages were created quickly. If you provide proofread content
and digital files for graphics like those shown on this page, assembling
a similar page will take about 1 hour. This site is managed in Front Page. It utilizes JavaScript, ASP, CSS, Forms and Server Side Scripting. I also designed complementary business cards, electronic signature, magazine ads, brochures, magnets, letterhead and business cards for Hunter’s Heart. ImagineeringSolutions.com
I designed accompanying Business Objects training manuals, promotional materials and PowerPoint presentations for Imagineering Solutions. PresentingDogsofDistinction.com showcases the accomplishments of this professional show dog handler. The target audience is users with the latest computers, who can easily download complex graphics and large video files. Videos and graphics illustrate the advantages of purchasing his service in a way that text alone cannot. The site attracts new clients internationally, and allows current clients to follow their dogs’ wins online while the handler is traveling. ) We decided on the site navigation, structure, colors, layout
and meta tag strategy. I started the image map in Photoshop, then switched
to Illustrator for the curved text. Scanning to completion of this complex
homepage took 30 hours. Basic Page

) Once the overall layout
and design were set, the cost of producing all inside pages was considerably
less expensive. For example, I assembled this page by clicking to select
the navigation, banner and graphics from assets already stored in a library.
Creation of the drop caps is automated. I start with a template and use
Photoshop actions to create a new letter. After editing and proofreading
text, creating this page took 1.5 hours. This site is managed using Dreamweaver. We are considering the addition of PayPal for secure online payment processing. Online printable invoices and contracts are a convenient business tool. I designed business cards for PresentingDogsofDistinction as well. http://www.geocities.com/washingtonbrittany/, the website for the Washington Brittany Club, will be completed summer 2002. This small site is under tight budget constraints and uses free web space. The logo is a digital combination of my original photo and purchased artwork. I use InDesign as Editor of the Washington Brittany club newsletter. Next issues of the “Tattle Tails” are converted to Acrobat PDF documents, which can be downloaded from the web and save the club mailing expenses. Contact Carla
